We hope your adventure with us leads you to agree that the Meadowlands is a special place, one that we hope you will continue to enjoy, and one that deserves continued support for its ecological recovery. We hope you’ll join us in our continued enjoyment of and admiration and advocacy for this ‘hidden in plain sight’ gem.
Here are other resources to help you enjoy and support the Meadowlands:
- Hackensack Riverkeeper: A great organization that offers rental kayaks and canoes at Laurel Hill Park in Secaucus and Overpeck County Park in Leonia, along with guided pontoon boat eco-tours, organized river clean-ups, river health monitoring, and local environmental advocacy.
- Bergen County Audubon Society: The Meadowlands-inclusive local Audubon chapter. They run guided birding walks at Richard De Korte Park and other Meadowlands birding areas such as Harrier Meadow, along with other great local birding programs and conservation programs.
- NJ Meadowlands Nature group on Facebook (free membership required), a great place to see amazing photos of birds currently in the Meadowlands, especially at Richard De Korte Park, home to some of the best birding in NJ: https://www.facebook.com/groups/915932508467477/
We hope to see you out on the waters of the Meadowlands, whether it’s with us or on your own! ‘Yak the Hack!
